Morraine Hills and McHenry Dam State Parks

Kathryn took a day off of work and we headed up to State Parks (Morraine Hills and McHenry Dam) which are right next to each other about an hour north of us on the Fox River.

Weather was nice for late March and as you can see from the pictures no snow but, it looks (and smells) like they just did their controlled burn of the under brush. With that and the lack of leaves on the trees yet, made for some pretty dismal photos. However, both hikes were great!

We did the Deveiant Lake hike, then headed to Cafe 31 North for a take out lunch. We headed to McHenry Dam State Park and just had lunch in the car. Still a bit chill to be sitting at a picnic table.

We then did the Fox River Trail hike. A great day to be outside in the early spring. Pictures, below, not to exciting!
